A refreshing eye opener

Mr Lakhovsky, a french cancer researcher in the early 20th century, explores a very simple hypothesis. What if the battle of the microbes isn't about chemestry so much as about resonant vibration? All living things exhibit vibration and all systems have resonant frequencies. Would it not make sense that the body is overcome by disease when its resonant vibrational health is hindered sufficiently by interfering frequencies, both biological and environmental?

It makes a lot of sense. Having done some experiments myself in this area I am convinced there is something to this. Georges photos of Germaniums dramatically cured of cancer simply by placing a circular copper antennae around the plant give compelling evidence that there is more to life that meets the pill. His statistical data gathered on cancer rates about the city of Paris and relating it to the types of soil and water sources in the areas also add evidence to his theory.

The book reads more like a research report than a story but the subject is fascinating in itself and held my interest all the way through.

His Multiwave Oscilator could be a door to a new world of discovery and health.

Short version: buy and study Secrets of the Soil because it answers many questions Lakhovsky had but never found answers for. Secrets of the Soil is by two authors sympathetic to Lakhovsky, like myself. Secrets of the Soil : New Solutions for Restoring Our Planet

Another book, Your Habit Body, An Owner's Manual, makes many related aspects clear. Your Habit Body: An Owner's Manual

In the 1980s A NASA scientist friend of mine had a working Lakhovsky multi-wave oscillator (MWO) that I and others had personal sessions with. Not very impressive. I read this book then and could not make heads or tales of it. Now after writing 14 books in this field, reading Lakhovsky again, I can see why it remains problematic and no longer in print.

This is a confused book with a lot of interesting ideas and research thrown together. Unfortunately, the sum here is not greater than its parts and the whole fails to hold together in the light of "etheric formative forces," muscle testing, Bruce Lipton and brain balance topics.

We may be able to go further and say, despite Lakhovsky's initial successes with the MWO, what he wished to prove was true about cells--was not true. What he expected to see proved as accurate for cells was not proved, to my knowledge. I suspect we have here a classic case of an author chasing expected results ahead of building on experimental evidence and basic observation.

What did Lakhovsky hope to find in his research? Maybe someone can do this better than I; here's my attempt:
1) He hoped to prove the primary logical function of living cells, at the cell level, was frequencies; and,
2) Frequency modulation was the primary functional or operative activity of cells.
3) He hoped to find competition between cells and opportunistic bacteria and virus was primarily a competition between healthy and unhealthy frequencies.
4) Lastly(?) he hoped his MWO would address the (expected) need of cells for a huge smorgasbord of frequencies; from which, cells could pick and chose frequencies to counter harmful frequencies and strengthen healthy ones.

This explanation for the MWO's success was never provable in the sense that it was widely replicable; it was not, even thru several more modern iterations-variations on the MWO.

Lakhovsky's results with geranium plants are very easy to explain if you have read Secret Life of Plants.

How can we explain the medical cures of MWO if Lakhovsky was barking up a false theoretical tree?

Re-reading his book and looking again at his illustrations and experimental conditions, I think it's fairly clear how he confused a confluence of placebo effect and high willingness to heal, with more tangible and reproducible results.

Remember, a personal MWO session is a pretty impressive experience, similar to an MRI in many ways. You definitely feel like SOMETHING is happening. "SOMETHING is happening" experiences create the strongest possible placebo potentials.

This book was truly written by Celia Cruz. You can almost see her speaking to you as you read her words. If you are lucky enough to be bilingual get the Spanish version. You'll love it!!! Celia's kindness and honesty is refreshing and inspiring. I had admired Celia Cruz for a long time, this book made me realize why I had found her so likable. Celia was a great human being and a great inspiration to us all, not just as a great entertainer but a wonderful person. I will always treasure this book.

This is my second review of this book which I re-read (I don't know why Amazon lost the first review). The book is a good read and very well descriptive of La Reina de Guanguanco ("Queen of Guanguanco"). Celia spoke of many points in her life which we all can relate to. She also spoke highly about her wishes to return to her homeland. I'm glad we have her in the USA! She is worthy of her success as a human being and a fine negra-latina. Bravo!

Plain language advise

This is a very informative book. The author really speaks to men about relationships and how to be effective in your relationships, particularly when looking at marriage. I recommend it to any male dating, starting to date, or looking at marriage. It is written in plain language specifically to male ideology.

This would be great book to read prior to marriage. I plan to give a copy to my 16 year old son before he starts dating…so soon.

Just finished reading the book, visiting chapter after chapter, got each time more enthusiastic decided to go for the full ride until the end, smooth, very well written, The examples from beginning to end of utilizing attitudes, reactions and expectations resulting in recognizing emotional distress, are amazingly well chosen.
What makes it very rich is how well researched and sustained are all the different aspects of the roll that plays an individual in initiating and conducting himself as a whole.
The importance of the behavior and how necessary is to be guided making it easy to swallow in a simple fashion way, even the layman can understand. Analysis and counseling with a vast amount of examples, well documented. I am also convinced that in every case the detail, important data and tools were efficiently selected to aproach the issues.
Further more, the writer of this excellent book explains how significant is the roll that each one of us play in our boyfriends or girlfriends life. Stress and emotions management were included
The power of analyzing an individuals pathological behavior facilitates the process, as well as training themselves to do auto analysis.
I'm impressed with the way the writer condensed the wealth of information without going too deep or technical.
The description was always kept simple to facilitate the learning and understanding, the way it is presented and approached is what I believe makes this book as a whole, a good source of educating ourselves, its an fascinating read for the average Joe, any individual can understand, and learn from it.

Outstanding !!!

I have read all 3 editions of this book over the last 25 years, with outstanding results ( The 1959 "How I Turned $1,000 into One Million Edition", the 1969 "How I Turned $1,000 into Three Million Edition" and the 1980 "How I Turned $1,000 into Five Million Edition ")
I strongly suggest the How I Turned $1,000 into Five Million edition if you can get your hands on one,
written well over 20 years after the original edition it's much harder to find then the previous editions but it's also most up to date and has much more information than the previous editions, well worth the the trouble trying to obtain it since Mr. Nickerson had 20+ years of extra experience in real estate which was reflected in the last edition
Mr. Nickerson was one of the few people who grew richer each year till the day he died in 2000 using the techniques he outlined in his books

A must for every one interested in real estate investing

William Nickerson and his classic book HOW I TURNED $1,000 INTO ONE MILLION IN REAL ESTATE IN MY SPARE TIME has probably created more millionaires than any other book in investing history.
It simply is a masterpiece of common sense advice, no matter what type of investing you are contemplating
What makes Nickerson's book so good?
His writings are crammed full with practical and real guidance on real estate investing with a proven technique for making money that really works.
No get-rich-quick hype. No motivation speeches or excessive cheerleading. No nothing down promises of instant wealth or easy profits.
Just tons of genuine advice real estate investors need to hear.
Nickerson's method of making money in real estate is so common and understood people still speak about "Nickersoning" properties more than forty years after his original book was published in 1959
Nickerson's book is filled with real world advice. He offers readers the same situations they would find in their world. Sample advertisements that could have been pulled out of any newspaper. Reality based properties with defects and flaws often trying to be hidden by their owners. Brokers that try to mislead with phony price estimates and bogus numbers. This is, unfortunately, the way the real estate world really is. It isn't all peaches and cream. Most people are honest but notice I said most, not all.
Contrast this almost cynical approach with the silly advice many real estate books offer readers. Instead of shrewd and often unscrupulous owners attempting to disguise property defects to maximize profits, we meet naive and motivated sellers who will allow buyers without jobs or credit to purchase their property equity on a nothing-down basis. Or better still, even loan these buyers the broker's fee and closing costs to do so! So many real estate courses and gurus offer a world filled with dumb and hypermotivated sellers to show how their techniques would work in theory, but Nickerson prepared readers for what actually exists in the modern real estate world.
Sadly, William Nickerson died in 2000. He wrote books on other subjects but he will always be known for his original 1959 real estate masterpiece and its later revisions which also contain much more infromation then the original like HOW I TURNED $1,000 INTO FIVE MILLION IN REAL ESTATE IN MY SPARE

This is an old book but all the principles described still apply to today's market. The one item that caught my attention was the formula he used to recognized a potential investment. If you were to purchased a rental property and the rental income is $985 per month than you should pay no more than $98,500 for this investement( $985 X 100 ).

About the Author

Jelmer Evers is a history teacher in a secondary school and is involved in classroom innovation. Jelmer gives advice, workshops and guest lectures on new forms of pedagogy and is involved in designing a new innovative teacher training college. He writes columns and articles for educational magazines and has edited Het Alternatief. He was nominated Teacher of the Year 2012 and named one of The Netherlands' 23 'New Radicals' by national magazine Vrij Nederland in 2013. He was nominated for the Global Teacher Prize in 2014.

René Kneyber is a mathematics teacher in secondary school. He has written popular books on classroom authority and discipline and has edited multiple high-profile books, including the Dutch book Het Alternatief and the Dutch translation of Embedding Formative Assessment by Dylan Wiliam. In 2015 he became member of the Dutch Education Council on royal commendation.

Invest for the Future!

Every amateur investor's dream is to find the "next big thing," but actually accomplishing this is harder than it sounds. Thankfully, Michael Moe's book has specifically laid out the industries that are likely to experience explosive growth in the future; and so that we can pick the right companies in those industries Moe has plenty of historical analysis about what other great companies did as they grew into present-day beasts. I especially like the comparative analysis at the end of the book that compares a successful stock pick (like Best Buy) to a bad stock pick (like Circuit City). Even though both companies look seemingly identical within the electronics retail industry the small but important differences are what this book teaches you to pick out.

For the most part, this book is really good. A lot of his individual picks for future growth companies (this was written in 2006) have not panned out (at least not yet), but the book still has a ton of valuable information. The 'Star Gazer' Interviews are worth the price of the book alone.

One downside is the website ([...]), which is supposed to compliment the book (it has continuations of many interviews in the book & more) appears to have been abandoned; It has not been updated in years and does not even let your register to view prior information.

This a great read for anyone who wants to invest in the market. The concepts are straight forward and unique. Michael teaches you how to determine what are the next great growth companies in the future. It reminds me of another great book called One Up on Wall Street by Peter Lynch.
